Tanya Santalahti

Tanya Santalahti works as Senior Specialist in BSAG’s corporate relations and regenerative agriculture teams.

The discussion around agriculture is often very polarized in the media, even though the systemic change towards a sustainable food system requires collaboration between all actors in the agri-food value chain.

“Companies have a strong will to promote sustainable food production, and we at BSAG aim to bring together different actors to accelerate this change. Climate change and biodiversity loss require concrete actions now, and regenerative agriculture is a solution. It’s great to see that companies also see the benefits of regenerative farming and are ready to make changes at the strategic level.”

Tanya is an experienced sales professional and before joining BSAG, she worked in the voluntary carbon market with carbon removals from agriculture. Tanya has worked with multinational companies and her core competences are understanding large entities and building trust between different actors. In addition, she has experience in business development, and it has helped her to recognize the challenges of corporate decision-making in an ever-changing world. Tanya graduated with a master’s degree in Economics in 2011 and a master’s degree in Agriculture and Forestry in 2022.

Despite her commercial background, Tanya feels that agriculture is her true passion. “It’s important to recognize that farmers are working hard not only for their livelihood but, in many cases, to protect their heritage as well. That’s why the promotion of regenerative agriculture is so inspiring, it enables an increase in farm profitability along with significant environmental benefits.”

Tanya lived most of her childhood abroad, but her love for Finnish nature and agriculture has rooted her to a farm on the coast of Finland. Roaming in the forest on horseback is one of her favorite pastimes, as is sports and time spent with her family and friends.
