European Space Agency (ESA) to launch two feasibility studies for new services supporting maritime safety and coastal water quality monitoring

In January 2012 ESA’s Integrated Applications Promotion Programme (IAP) will be issuing two open competitive Invitations to Tender (ITT) to investigate the feasibility of improving maritime safety, coastal surveillance and water quality monitoring in the Baltic. Focusing on integrated applications utilising and combining different space-based and terrestrial systems, up to 100% funding will be provided to the winning bidders.
The themes of these two feasibility studies were already introduced in the workshop that BSAG arranged on 8th June 2011 in co-operation with ESA and Tekes. As a member of ESA’s IAP (Integrated Applications Promotion) network of Ambassador Platforms, BSAG will support ESA by interfacing with users and providers of prospective new satellite services related to environment, safety and transport in the Baltic Sea region.
