SET Petrochemicals Commitment completed. Russia orders oil rescue vessel for artic conditions

A Commitment by made SET Group/SET Petrochemicals Ltd in Baltic Sea Action Summit 2010 was implemented successfully and completed in December 2011. The Commitment was to consult Russian oil industry and transportation network on oil recovery. Partly following the consultations the Russian Ministry of Transportation ordered a multifunction rescue vessel especially designed for arctic conditions.

The emergency and rescue icebreaker represents a new type of oil spill combat technology: the vessel to can operate also sideways, in thick ice and its advanced oil recovery system is also suitable for operation even in heavy waves.
The vessel was ordered from Arctech Helsinki Shipyard Oy and Yantar Shipyard located in Kaliningrad. The value of the order is about EUR 76 million. The project starts immediately and the vessel is ready to be delivered in December 2013.
Readiness for oil combat in ice conditions is a major challenge in the Baltic Sea. Reinforcing the oil combat capacity with rescue vessel with especial icebreaking function is significant advancement.
