Koneyrittäjät ry – Effective water protection for machine operators
Baltic Sea Commitment, Forestry
Koneyrittäjät ry promotes responsible development in energy, earth moving and construction, and forestry sectors. In collaboration with Baltic Sea Action Group (BSAG), the association brings best water protection practices into use among practitioners and encourages other actors to participate in Baltic Sea initiatives.

Deepening the collaboration
Koneyrittäjät ry is a national employers’ and entrepreneurs’ association for machine contractors in the energy, earth moving and construction, and forestry sectors. The association began collaborating with BSAG in 2025. Koneyrittäjät has supported BSAG’s projects and shared its expertise in the KOPPI project, which produces easy-to-use materials to assist machine operators in implementing water protection on forestry sites.
With the Baltic Sea Commitment signed by Koneyrittäjät, the collaboration is becoming closer and broader. The shared goal is to facilitate water protection on forestry sites and promote wider change towards water-sustainable forestry across Finland.
Best water protection practices to action
Koneyrittäjät supports BSAG’s forestry initiatives by providing their expertise and the perspective of sector actors, for example by participating in the design and implementation of materials that make water-sustainable forestry easier. With BSAG’s support, the association also highlights water-related issues in its advocacy work and promotes the adoption of water-sustainable solutions and BSAG’s practical learning materials in heavy machinery operations through its extensive networks.
The aim is to establish a long-term partnership between BSAG and Koneyrittäjät ry, and to bring water protection practices based on science and the experience of practitioners into mainstream forestry end earth moving.
BSAG is a knowledgeable, influential, and visible partner. In our view, practical solutions are central to advancing water protection, which is also at the heart of BSAG’s Baltic Sea work.
