PRESS RELEASE: The next Baltic Sea Action Summit will be held in Russia 2013

During the official visit of the Russian Prime Minister Dmitri Medvedev, BSAG met the Russian Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Sergey Donskoy.During the meeting it was agreed upon the co-operation in the next Baltic Sea Action Summit, BSAS, which will be held in Russia in the spring 2013. Details of the next BSAS in Russia will be announced later. The First BSAS was organized in Helsinki 2010 and was co-governed by President Tarja Halonen, Prime Minister Matti Vanhanen and Baltic Sea Action Group.

The Baltic Sea Action Group, BSAG (2008), is an independent non-profit foundation, which acts as a catalyst behind concrete actions aimed to revive the Baltic Sea, uniting efforts and knowledge of the public, private and third sectors. BSAG acts for solving problems of the Baltic Sea, such as eutrophication, hazardous substances and risks, related to maritime activity. BSAG’s way of acting includes gathering the Baltic Sea Commitments, which have a direct or indirect impact on improving the ecological situation of the Baltic Sea, as well as the regularly held Baltic Sea Action Summit –a high-level conference. The first summit was organized in Helsinki in 2010, and the next one is planned to take place in Russia in 2013. BSAG acts all over the Baltic Sea area, and its office is located in Helsinki.
