Sinebrychoff commits to decrease nutrient emissions and recover the carbon dioxide from beverage production
Sinebrychoff, the leading manufacturer of beers, ciders, soft drinks and energy drinks in Finland has made a Commitment to minimize the nutrient leakages to the Sea from the barley fields.
This is done through developing the current audit system to encourage and help farmers to further advance their working methods. Audit includes development areas such as improving soil condition, crop rotation and precise fertilization.
Sinebrychoff is also committed to further improve Kerava plant´s operations by recovering and reusing the carbon dioxide from the production, reducing the amount of used water per hectolitre of product produced and developing its cleaning processes.
The production of Sinebrychoff’s bewerages is dependent on a stable flow of raw materials sourced directly from nature: water from Lake Päijänne and for beer production barley from Finnish farmers.
“Sinebrychoff appreciates the importance of a healthy and clean environment and water and is committed to develop its malt barley procurement and its production in a way which improves the ecological balance of the Baltic Sea” says Bo Ranta, Production Director from Sinebrychoff.
The Commitment is expected to last five years during which Sinebrychoff also supports BSAG’s Baltic Sea work with 15 000 euros / year.
