Research-based knowledge and best practices to improve soil health

The main goal of the Baltic Sea Action Group’s Swedish-language Carbon Action farmer collaboration is to inspire and support Swedish-speaking farmers in Finland who want to improve the condition and productivity of their soils. Research indicates that shortcomings in areas such as water management and soil structure can harm both yields and increase the environmental footprint of agriculture. Over time, this also has consequences for the Baltic Sea.

A key part of the work is to share new research findings and proven best practices in a way that can be applied in everyday farming. Just as importantly, we provide practical guidance on how farmers can assess and improve the soil health of their fields.

Hands-on support for farmers

We organise field days and webinars, translate guides and other materials into Swedish, and deliver inspiring lectures for farmers. Additionally, we offer training for advisors on topics related to soil health and soil condition.

Our Swedish-language webinars and translations are supported by the Louise and Göran Ehrnrooth Foundation and the Bergsrådinnan Sophie von Julin Foundation. Field events, lectures, and advisor training are funded by SLC and Jordfonden.
