Koneyrittäjät ry
Koneyrittäjät ry promotes measures that improve water protection in machine work as part of its Baltic Sea Commitment. Together with the Baltic Sea Action Group (BSAG), the association puts the best water protection solutions into practice and encourages other actors in the sector to take part in the work for the Baltic Sea.
Collaboration in a seashell
Koneyrittäjät ry and BSAG have worked together since 2025, when Koneyrittäjät began supporting BSAG’s KOPPI project, which produces water protection materials. In 2026 Koneyrittäjät made a Baltic Sea Commitment to BSAG for 2026–2028. The commitment strengthens the cooperation further and aims to bring good water protection practices and training to professionals in the machine contracting sector. Koneyrittäjät also encourages its partners to make similar commitments and raises the topic of water bodies in its advocacy work. The aim of this long-term cooperation is to promote water-sustainable forestry in Finland.

Baltic Sea Commitment
In its sustainability programme, Koneyrittäjät ry is committed to promoting water protection in forests, fields, peatlands and the built environment alike. The association wants to take part in developing science-based best practices in the sectors it represents and to promote their wide adoption among professionals in the machine contracting sectors. The Baltic Sea Commitment made by Koneyrittäjät for 2026–2028 and the cooperation with BSAG directly support these goals.

Water protection and promoting biodiversity raised into advocacy work
• Koneyrittäjät includes in its advocacy work the restoration of running waters, wetlands and peatlands, stormwater management, the maintenance of water services, and the promotion of water protection solutions in forestry and construction. In its advocacy, Koneyrittäjät emphasises the importance of these themes to decision-makers and officials and increases public debate on the subject

About the partner company
Koneyrittäjät is the national entrepreneur and employer organisation for machine contractors in the energy, land construction and forest machinery sectors, and an influential advocate on matters concerning machine contractors. The organisation brings machine contractors together to act jointly, improves the operating conditions of its member companies, provides services and increases its members’ expertise, standing and social security. Its activities are guided by the values of openness, reliability, entrepreneurship and responsibility. For its members, Koneyrittäjät provides, among other things, advocacy, labour market activity, information, training and consulting services, Koneyrittäjä products, and purchasing and other cooperation agreements. Founded in 1969, the association has 16 member associations, which handle local advocacy and organise joint activities in their own areas.
BSAG is a knowledgeable, influential and visible partner. In our view, practical solutions are central to advancing water protection, and they are also at the heart of BSAG’s Baltic Sea advocacy.
