Baltic Sea Commitment

MAA Academy has given Baltic Sea Action Group (BSAG) a Baltic Sea Commitment for the years 2025–2028. In practice, the commitment supports farmers concretely through four types of activities: developing advisory services and tools, increasing expert collaboration and knowledge sharing, developing criteria and verification methods for regenerative agriculture, and strengthening sustainable rural livelihoods and diverse farming. The collaboration helps farmers adopt regenerative methods and also creates impact in political decision-making and food industry practices.

Scaling regenerative agriculture in the food market

MAA Academy recognizes that mainstreaming regenerative farming requires that the entire food chain—from farm to consumer—understands it as a form of sustainable agriculture. MAA Academ commits to advancing the development of national criteria, verification, auditing, and certification for regenerative farming in collaboration with BSAG and other stakeholders.

Supporting farmer collaboration on the Carbon Action work

MAA Academy promotes the exchange of knowledge and expertise between Carbon Action projects and its advisory team to increase environmental and farmer resilience and well-being.
- Concrete forms of collaboration may include participation of MAA Academy advisors in Carbon Action projects, joint communications, events, and the co-development of new solutions.
- MAA Academy will highlight advisors who have completed the Maaneuvos training as “top soil health experts” on its website.

The objective of MAA Academy is to promote understanding of regenerative farming in its operations and to support the mainstreaming of land use practices that restore ecosystems in Finland. As part of this work, MAA Academy seeks to influence national strategic work and political dialogue.

MAA Academy is a cooperative that began operations in 2025, supporting food producers, farmers, and land and environmental stewards in improving their quality of life and nurturing healthier agricultural ecosystems. The cooperative develops and offers advisory services, training, and support services that promote holistically managed, nutrient-recycling, and economically, ethically, and ecologically sustainable food production.

MAA Academy’s goal is to help today’s fossil-fuel-based food production transform into a regenerative, diverse system that harnesses nature’s ecosystem services, producing higher-quality food and a wide range of services.
